The opening weekend of the 2024-2025 season was one worth celebrating for the Helena Bighorns, sweeping the Quake in back-to-back games on Yellowstone’s home ice.
Friday’s game ended in a 6-0 win for Helena, and a shutout for new goalie Tyler Miller, who stopped all 10 shots on him in net. Goals were scored by Finn Theriault (Kelton Chadwick), Austin Uecker (Hunter Coulombe), Warren Ryser (unassisted), Owen Gruener (unassisted), Trey Pareja (Hunter Coulombe, Mason Smith), and Clint Isakson (Alex Clark, Trey Pareja).
Saturday’s game was a lot like the night before, with the Bighorns this time scoring 7 goals, and Bighorn’s veteran goalie Malik Johnson celebrating a shutout and stopping all 13 shots on his net. Goals were scored by G’bari Mayers (Hunter Coulombe), Brandon Mcilhiny (Garrett Lindsey), Finn Theriault (Garrett Lindsey, Maddux Hale), Brandon Mcilhiny (Kelton Chadwick), Finn Theriault (Jason Hammett), Austin Uecker (unassisted), and Kolin Krizan (Jeffrey Hershberger).
The Bighorns will head to Butte to face the Butte Irish on Friday, September 13th, and will get ready for their home opener against the Butte Irish on Saturday, September 14th.
