The Helena Bighorns and the Great Falls Americans faced each other twice this weekend, in two back-to-back home games at the Helena Ice Arena. The Bighorns came out on top both games, with hard fought and well-deserved wins, and a packed arena both nights.
Friday night’s game was a 6-3 win for the Bighorns, and Helena goalie Eric Buchholz took 39 shots on net, saving 36 of those shots. Goals for the Bighorns were scored by Harlan Wojtusik (Corbin Skinner, TJ Norris), Ian Vanelli (Tyler Bloom, Adam Harvey), Harlan Wojtusik (Adam Harvey, Branwen Pollett), Erik Gibboney (Andrew Deskin, Tyler Alldredge), Harlan Wojtusik giving him a hat trick (Erik Gibboney, Branwen Pollett), and Sam Feamster (Ian Vanelli, Jonny Peterson).
Saturday’s game ended in a 7-2 victory for the Bighorns. Goals were scored by Gavyn Galloway (Harlan Wojtusik), TJ Norris (Andrew Deskin), Sam Feamster (Tyler Bloom, Adam Harvey), Adam Harvey (Jonny Peterson, Corbin Skinner), TJ Norris (Adam Harvey, Tyler Bloom), Sam Feamster (Liam Bland), and third for TJ Norris for the hat trick (Adam Harvey, Tyler Bloom). Eric Buchholz took 38 shots on net, with 36 saves.
The Bighorns travel to Bozeman next weekend both Friday and Saturday to face the Bozeman Icedogs. They will play their last home game next Sunday, February 27th against the Great Falls Americans at 4:00pm. Tickets for Sunday’s game are available online or at the door.
