The Bighorns winning streak has continued another weekend, making them 4-0 with weekend wins against the Great Falls Americans and the Bozeman Icedogs.
Friday’s game had Helena on the road for the third time, but it was their first trip of the season to Great Falls to face the Americans. The first period had the Americans behind by one goal, with a 2-1 lead for the Bighorns. The Bighorns took a strong lead in the second period, ending it in a 5-2 lead for Helena. They scored one last time in the third, and ended the game with a 6-2 win. Goals scored for Helena were by Harlan Wojtusik (Dylan Cunningham), Logan Powers (Edvin Astrom, Padraic Whited), Tyler Bloom (Padraic Whited, Braden Cunningham), TJ Norris (Andrew Deskin), TJ Norris (Joe Feamster, Harlan Wojtusik), and Tyler Bloom (Dylan Cunningham). Bighorn’s goalie Jesse Schindel held strong in net with 27 out of 29 saves.
Saturday’s game was Helena’s first home game of the season, hosting the Bozeman Icedogs. The Helena fans showed up strong, with an attendance of just shy of 1600 in the stands. Helena started out with the first two goals, but ended the first period with one against them from Bozeman. The Bighorns gained another goal in the second period, and no goals were scored in the third, ending the game with a 3-1 win for the Bighorns. Goals scored by Helena were from Logan Powers (Dylan Cunningham), Gavyn Lund (Darby McCarthy), and Braden Cunningham (Tyler Bloom). Helena goalie Gabe Swanson had 28 saves out of Bozeman’s 29 shots.
