It was a long week of back-to-back games against the Great Falls Americans, but Helena persevered and came out with all three wins.
Game one was on Wednesday night, which ended with Helena taking home a 4-1 win. Goals for Helena were scored by Gavin Barr (Braden Cunningham, Owen Ramsay), Cai Robinson (unassisted), Hunter Coulombe (Garrett Bogan, Tim Mattingly), and Owen Gruener (Cai Robinson, Jack Lambert). Goalie Jesse Schindel stopped 13 or the 14 shots on net.
Helena headed back to Great Falls on Friday for game two and took home a 7-2 win. Helena goals were scored by Jack Lambert (Owen Gruener, Dylan Cunningham), Patrick Crooks (Dylan Cunningham, Mason Eggen), Cai Robinson (Owen Gruener, Mason Eggen), Tim Mattingly (Jason Hammett, Ty Moore), Patrick Crooks (Gavin Barr, Trey Pajera), Hunter Coulombe (Gavin Barr, Jakob Losch), and Jack Lambert (Ty Moore, Patrick Crooks). Bighorn’s goalie Alex Lamont stopped 16 of the 18 shots on net.
Saturday night’s game had Helena hosting Great Falls at home. Helena kept their undefeated home streak, celebrating a third win with a 7-2 game ending. Bighorns goals were credited to Jack Lambert (Owen Ramsay, Cai Robinson), Finn Theriault (Tim Mattingly, Joe Feamster), Jason Hammett (Finn Theriault, Tim Mattingly), Cai Robinson (Patrick Crooks, Jack Lambert), Jason Hammett (Patrick Crooks, Tim Mattingly), Cai Robinson (Patrick Crooks, Jack Lambert), and a third by Jason Hammett (Patrick Crooks, Tim Mattingly). Jesse Schindel stood in net for Helena and stopped 17 of the 19 shots against him.
Helena will spend this week preparing for their last road trip of the regular season, against the Gillette Wild. These will be two big games and will help determine who will hold the final top spot in the Frontier Division. Helena’s last regular season home game will be Saturday, March 2nd against the Bozeman Icedogs.
